Carson's Jewelers was again invited to the exclusive Luxury Jewelry Show in Las Vegas, Nevada. Several of us who attended were able to preview some of the exciting trends in jewelry for this season. I thought it would be helpful to summarize some of these for you.

Jewelry trends are often established by a combination of trends - in apparel, the economy and statement pieces worn by celebrities.

Diamond:

Diamond three stone rings have always been an important part of jewelry fashion. The combination of three diamonds together in a ring, earring or pendant has become representative of the past, present and future in a very special relationship. Carson's has many custom-made three diamond rings including several featuring a natural fancy yellow center diamond.
Pave diamond rings, earrings and bracelets also are very popular. Pave is a style of setting which refers to many smaller stones set together or literally "paved". Because these pieces feature many smaller diamonds rather then fewer larger diamonds they offer a very dramatic look for the price.
Perfectly cut diamonds, such as Hearts On Fire, continue to grab center stage for that perfect single diamond statement piece. Hearts On Fire diamonds are cut to perfection to yield the ideal balance of fire (spectral colors) and brilliance (white light). Hearts on Fire diamonds make the perfect solitaire ring, pendant or stud earrings.
Antique and period jewelry continue to be featured. Pieces from the Edwardian period portrayed by flowing lines and garland motif, and Art Deco pieces exhibiting their characteristic geometric lines continue to be featured in the fashion press.
Much of the transformation in bridal jewelry from traditional yellow gold settings to very ornate platinum settings studded with diamonds mark a revival of pieces from these periods.

Colored Gemstone and Pearl:

Color trends have been marked with vibrant shades of greens, blues and reds. Turquoise has become very popular along with turquoise and oxblood coral combinations. Gemstone jewelry featuring colors of the sea such as aquamarine, chrysocolla, apatite, sapphire, peridot, tourmaline and chrysoprase are very popular.
Another popular series of colors are various shades of red and dusky pink, found in gemstones such as tourmaline and pink sapphire, and orange and brown tones found in Mexican fire opal, citrine and topaz.
Tahitian black cultured pearls continue to be important fashion accessories. These beautiful pearls, with a wide array of color overtones, make beautiful rings, earrings, pendants and necklaces.

Gold and Platinum:

Black is back The nice thing is that jewelry of any color (white or yellow) will go beautifully with black. Platinum continues to be very popular. Two-tone jewelry (yellow and white together) is also very much in vogue.
Platinum jewelry remains strong. Platinum is a very durable metal (it wears approximately three times slower than white gold) and has almost perfect resistance to corrosion of chemicals found commonly in the household.
Tassels and fringe in gold are strong fashion features - anything that dangles and moves. In many respects the tassel earrings and pendants are very reminiscent of Victorian jewelry in the later part of the 19th century.

In closing, I hope the overview of these trends has been helpful. Please send us an email or call us at 301-739-0830, (888) 268-8505 if you have any additional questions. If you would like to see some of the latest in jewelry trends please come into our store.
