Carson Jewelers is a member of the American Gem Society, which is an organization committed to holding jewelers to the highest ethical and professional standards in the industry.
Combined, our staff has over 200 years of experience in the jewelry industry. Owner Tom Newcomer is a Graduate Gemologist from the Gemological Institute of America. Tom earned his degree in 1983 at the GIA’s educational facility in California. Tom also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from McDaniel College and a Master’s in Business Administration in Finance from American University. He also holds the title of Certified Gemological Appraiser from The American Gem Society.
Staff member Deborah Vattelana, is also a Graduate Gemologist from the Gemological Institute of America.
Vice president, Ashley Newcomer-Mills, graduated from GIA as a AppliedJewelery Arts Designer(AJA) and a Grduate Jeweler(GJ). Her degrees were earned in resendency in Carls Bad, CA campus.
Our jewelers Kevin Newhouse and Ashley Newcomer work on the premises. Kevin graduated from Bowman Technical School in 1980 as a master jeweler and has over 20 years of jewelry experience. He is skilled and experienced in all phases of jewelry repair and custom jewelry manufacturing and is available for consultation. Ashley Graduated in 2010 from the Gemological Institute of America(GIA) with her applied Jewelry Arts degree.
R. Bruce Carson’s Jewelers features the area’s only accredited gemological laboratory. The laboratory is used for diamond and colored stone grading, and gem identification. The laboratory has been accredited by the American Gemological Society.
